Email from Rhonda and Terry Bartlett tp Graham Geporge Hawker dated 9 June 2005 states:
At last we have solved the John BARTLETT Louisa HAWKER marriage
I hope you will alter the facts on your HAWKER FAMILY web page.I'm not sure how you will record this but Louisa Hodges HAWKER did in
fact marry a Henry FINCH, in February 1854, at the Eldersfield Parish
Church. ( The marriage was incorrectly recorded as Harriet HAWKER age
20 perhaps her "pet name" ? ) Louisa became a widow and married John
BARTLETT in Ledbury Parish Church 21st January 1856 (We have the
marriage certificate)
It records that John BARTLETT full age, bachelor, married Louisa FINCH
full age, widow, in the presence of Mrs Bartlett and Elizabeth Hawker.
Mrs Bartlett: we presume this to be Janneta BARTLETT John's step mother
and Elizabeth Hawker: we presume to be Eliza the sister of Louisa.I see in the free online BMD that a Henry FINCH died in Tewkesbury
district during the March quarter of 1854 and can only, at this stage,
presume that this is the man that Louisa married making her a widow
within a few weeks of her first marriage. We are considering sending for
this certificate to see what it will revealFurther details on the Ellen Louisa BARTLETT and Frederick William
HAWKER family.
It is interesting to see in the 1901 census that probably because of his
Army career they moved around a lot because further children are listed
Edith born 1890 in Ireland; Frederick born 1894 in Ireland; Albert born
1898 in Bermuda West Indies; and then Kate born 1900 at Aldershot
Best wishes
