This path is part of the Serranía de Ronda places that are home to a series of beautiful trails with various difficulties and that delight hiking lovers.
A beautiful landscape for its lushness and the color of chestnuts in the fall, this path will surround the Cerro Vázquez and the Tajo Perruchina, linking the path of El Toril where you will see spectacular panoramic views of Igualeja and its surroundings.
The Sendero de Las Caleras, is located in the town of Igualeja, and to undertake this route we can leave the car in the parking lot at the source of the Genal river, and leave from there.
A circular route of low difficulty, a route to enjoy family walks in the middle of nature where children will live an interesting adventure.
The trail begins in one of the most visited places and recognized as the Singular Corner of the Serranía de Ronda, the Birth of the Genal River, Natural Monument of Andalusia.
We will have to walk through the upper area of the Albaicín neighborhood of the town of Igualeja, to turn left and take a sinuous and ascending path that will offer us outstanding panoramic views towards the Anicarrán canyon, Tajo Bejera and Cerro de la Cruz.
The path ends at the highest point of the route, called Puerto de las Piedras, which is also known as “Coto de Ginés”, we will find a paved track where there is no traffic, since it is only used to transport chestnuts .
We will continue a few meters and we will enter the left lane that will lead us to the Calera del Coto, or continue with our route and connect with the path of El Toril. The descent through the aforementioned path, with an irregular profile, exposes panoramic views towards the upper basin of the Genal River and the orchard area of Igualeja, known as Las Vegas.
At this point we just have to follow the beacons installed in the route that will take us back to our place of departure, the source of the river.
